Rice Planting Through Music, Rhythm, and Movement

Tickets: https://lamama.org/kinding-sindaw-dance-interactive-workshop/

Children learn how rhythm, music, and ritual dances tell the story of planting and harvesting rice. Through movements inspired by farming activities, they build coordination, teamwork, and confidence. Participants combine music and dance in an ensemble performance while exploring the values of community, celebration, and gratitude. The workshop also highlights the importance of preserving living traditions and cultural heritage.

Kinding Sindaw was founded in 1992 by Potri Ranka Manis, Kinding Sindaw is an NYC-based, AANHPI / BIPOC-led non-profit preserving the southern Philippines’ living traditions. Through dance, storytelling, kulintang music, and silat, they counter cultural appropriation. Their nationwide programs serve the Bangsamoro diaspora, promoting wellness, education, and heritage across all generations.
