Event Overview
Join us on October 5 at Governors Island for a special Filipino American History Month gathering, organized by Indigenous organizers from the Meranao, Mangyan, and Manobo peoples. The day will feature workshops in arts, crafts, rituals, and traditions that honor our ancestral heritage. Filipino historians will share stories of our radical history of resistance and organizing in the US, while community discussions will reflect on the Filipino American experience today, including the impacts of ICE and anti-immigrant sentiment. A Know Your Rights (KYR) workshop will provide practical tools to protect ourselves and our community members. Together, we’ll honor our past and strengthen our collective presence today.
