She is known as Mae or May in her other world as a Registered Nurse. To her relatives, she is Bai a Labi a Gaus sa Borocot. To some Muslim friends she, is Hadji Mariam, her patogina, or the name given to her when she performed the pilgrimage to Mecca. She also acquired several other names during the dark period of the Martial law, the Marcos regime. Most Meranaos have several names, one official name, a patogina, a title, a pet name usually reserved for family members and relatives and such other names that either they choose for themselves, or friends use to call them. But, the layers of name of the Meranaos is not a new phenomenon. In fact, they are simply reminiscent of the characters of the Darangen, the Meranao epic, like Prince Bantogen who is referred to in the epic with several other names.
